FAQ about e-books

Q What is an e-book?
A The term e-book stands for electronic book. It is a book in digital format that can be read on your personal computer.

Q Will I be able to access my e-book as soon as I have paid?
A As soon as your payment has been processed successfully, you will receive an email with instructions on how to access your e-book.

Q If I have purchased the books before, do I need to buy them again?
A If you have Practice Test 2 from 2010 or Practice Test 1 from 2008 onwards, you will not need to purchase the books again. UMAT Practice Test 1 is included with the UMAT2011 registration. This e-book is an updated edition of the UMAT Practice Test first published in 2008. UMAT Practice Test 2 was first published in 2010.

Q Do I need special software to open and read an e-book?
A You will need Adobe Reader and the FileOpen plugin. For more information on what version of Adobe Reader you need, please refer to the System Requirements page.

Q I never received any email after I purchased the e-book. Where do I go to download the e-book?
A Firstly, please check your junk/spam mail folder to ensure the email we sent you did not end up there. If the email is not there, you need to save the UMAT email address (umat@acer.edu.au) in your address book, because some email providers aggressively block emails. Adding us to your address book generally solves the problem. Once you have done that, please contact the UMAT Office by email so that a copy of the original email can be resent to your email address.

Q I am unable to open the e-book. Help!
A If you are unable to open the e-book, there are a few possible reasons: a) Ensure your computer meets the system requirements as outlined on the System Requirements page. b) Ensure the FileOpen plugin has been successfully installed. c) Ensure you have not already opened the e-book on 3 other personal computers. You can only open and view the e-book on up to 3 different personal computers. If you are still unable to open the e-book after checking all of the above, please email the UMAT Office and let us know what error message you get when attempting to open the e-book.

Q I am unable to print the e-book. Why?
A You will be unable to print if you are offline, or if you have already used your alloted prints. Each customer is entitled to 2 prints, regardless of the number of pages printed.

Q I have just printed 3 pages from the e-book. Does that mean I have used up 1 print?
A Yes. Each customer is entitled to 2 prints, regardless of the number of pages printed.

Q Can I save the e-book on my desktop and view it offline?
A Yes, you can save the e-book to your desktop and view it anytime. However, you will not be able to print the e-book when you are offline.

Q Do I need to open the e-book by a certain date? Is there an expiry date for the e-book?
A You have 12 months' access to view the e-book from the date of purchase and you can open the e-book anytime within these 12 months.

Q What should I do if my email address has changed since I purchased the e-book?
